New Delhi: Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev are set to face off in the much-anticipated men’s singles final of the Australian Open 2025 at the Rod Laver Arena on Sunday, January 26. For the first time in six years, the top two seeds have qualified for the final of the Australian Open.
Sinner will look to defend his title while Zverev is aiming for his maiden Grand Slam title after qualifying for the two finals before the one in Melbourne. Both the players have dropped just two sets in their Australian Open matches.
The World no.1 beat Holger Rune and then dominated Alex de Minaur in the quarterfinals. He secured a hard-fought 7-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory against USA’s Ben Shelton to qualify for the Australian Open final. The defending champion is on the 20-match winning streak.
Zverev dominated the first 3 rounds without dropping any set but the world no.2 dropped one set each in the 4th round against Ugo Humbert and in the quarterfinal against Tommy Paul. He faced Novak Djokovic in the semifinal and won the first set. But the Serbian had to retire due to an injury and the German qualified for the final.
