Mumbai: Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut has announced her latest venture, The Mountain Story, a café-cum-restaurant set in the heart of the Himalayas. Describing it as one of her most special projects, she sees it as a personal endeavour and an extension of herself, deeply rooted in her pahadi (mountain) heritage.
In her recent Instagram post on Wednesday- February 5, Kangana shared a glimpse of The Mountain Story, showcasing the traditional clothing, people, and serene mountain landscapes that define her cultural roots. The project seamlessly blends tradition and modernity, creating what she calls a magical symphony of warmth and tranquillity.
Set to open on February 14, The Mountain Story is designed as a cosy retreat for those seeking a peaceful escape amidst breathtaking mountain views. The café’s architecture harmonises rustic wooden craftsmanship with contemporary elegance, offering a thoughtfully curated space that reflects Kangana’s Himachali heritage.

All about Mountain Story: Café-cum-restaurant
Kangana is making her childhood dream come true with the opening of a café in the lap of the Himalayas. Designed by Shabnam Gupta, who previously worked with Kangana on her Mumbai and Manali properties, the café called “The Mountain Story” will open on February 14. This rustic yet modern establishment is set amidst breathtaking mountain views, blending the charm of nature with contemporary elegance.
The multi-story café is constructed with wood and stone, showcasing local craftsmanship. The design incorporates a rustic-bohemian aesthetic, with a welcoming lobby featuring a large chandelier. The space has a relaxed yet open atmosphere, with ample seating options, indoors and outdoors. Large windows offer stunning views of the mountains, allowing natural light to transform the space throughout the day.
The interior of the café is designed with high ceilings to create a spacious feel, while the limited brown and grey colour palette enhances its warmth. The floors, ceilings, and walls are clad in natural materials, emphasising the desired cosy atmosphere. Accents of greens, blues, whites, and reds in the furniture and furnishings inject a bright, Bohemian vibe into the space.
Kangana has described the café as a “love story,” where the rugged beauty of the mountains meets the love and warmth of its people. The café’s design and concept reflect her vision of creating a peaceful retreat in the stunning landscape of Manali, far away from the fast pace of urban life.
