New Delhi: Seasoned India batter KL Rahul has been picked in the Karnataka squad to face table-toppers Haryana in their final league match of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group C starting at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on January 30.

Rahul was declared fit by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team after the wicketkeeper batter recovered from an elbow niggle. Rahul is undergoing rehabilitation after returning from Australia, where he played all five Tests.

KL Rahul set to make Ranji return after four years

It was reported earlier by PTI that Rahul would be available to play for Karnataka in the final league match of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 campaign which will be his first Ranji Trophy since 2020. Rahul last played in India’s premier red-ball competition against Bengal in Kolkata four years ago.

A host of India stars including Rishabh Pant, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja returned to the Ranji Trophy for their respective domestic sides in the previous round. Rahul to train with Karnataka squad from Tuesday

Rahul is set to train with the Mayank Agarwal-led Karnataka squad from Tuesday. Meanwhile, Vidwath Kaverappa will also return to the squad to boost Karnataka’s pace bowling department. He returns after missing a large part of the ongoing domestic season due to an injury.

Karnataka sit third in Group C with 19 points behind table-toppers Haryana (26) and Kerala (21). A win with a bonus point against Haryana is crucial for Karnataka to keep their knockout hopes alive.
