New Delhi: KL Rahul is most likely to lead Team India in the ODI series against Sri Lanka ending this month. While a young Men in Blue team is busy with the Zimbabwe T20I series, their next assignment is a tour to the island nation where the T20 World Champions will play a three-match T20I series and as many ODIs.
After Rohit Sharma’s exit from the shortest format and his exclusion from the Sri Lanka tour, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is busy in thinking of a suitable name which can captain the side in the 50-over game and also the shortest format. As per multiple media reports, the BCCI is planning to make KL Rahul as the skipper for the ODIs while Hardik Pandya’s name is in the list for the T20Is.
While Hardik has been handling the T20I duties for Team India before the ODI World Cup 2023, Rahul lead the side in the South Africa ODIs last year. Both the players have some exposure to captaincy and is most likelihood will be at the helm of affairs in the upcoming tour to Sri Lanka.
Rahul snubbed from T20 WC squad
Rahul who was not part of the T20 World Cup squad for the event in US and West Indies performed well in the 50-over World Cup last year. He as the skipper of the side led the Indian team with confidence and as far as the replacement of the captain is concerned, there is no better name than of Rahul for the 50-over segment.
Meanwhile, Hardik who is a champion in the shortest format of the game, is adept at handling tough situations in the T20Is and he proved the same in the recently-concluded T20 World Cup as well with a sensation spell under pressure in the summit clash against South Africa.
KL Rahul will most likely lead Team India for the ODIs against Sri Lanka while Hardik Pandya will be at the helm for the T20I series. Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
