New Delhi: Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen’s matches at the Paris Olympics 2024 has been deleted after Guatemala’s Kevin Cordon withdrew from the tournament on Sunday, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) said in a statement. Cordon, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics semi-finalists has pulled out from the remaining part of the event after suffering a left elbow injury.
This means that Lakshya’s straight games win (21-8, 22-20) against the veteran Cordon in a Group L match won’t have any relevance further in the event with the result now standing as cancelled.
“As per BWF General Competition Regulations for group stage play, the results of all matches played, or yet to be played, involving Cordon in Group L are now considered deleted,” the BWF said in a statement.
We wish Kevin Cordon 🇬🇹 a speedy recovery. 🙏

Cordon was scheduled to play against third seeded Jonathan Christie of Indonesia on Monday (July 29) and Julien Carragi of Belgium on Wednesday (July 31). With the World No.41’s withdrawal, the Group L will be reduced to three members – Lakshya, Christie and Carragi.
For Olympic debutant Sen, the two points gained from the win against the Guatemala shuttler has been cancelled. This means he will have to win both his matches against Christie and Carragi to advance to the pre-quarters round.
