Liverpool’s Trent Alexander Arnold proposes takeover of a Ligue 1 club

New Delhi: Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly interested in taking over the French side FC Nantes. According to reports, Michael Arnold, the father of the English full back, manages his sons’ investments through an investment firm situated in London and has a strong interest in the French sports industry. Given that Alexander-Arnold now owns a minority stake through Otro Capital in the French Formula 1 team, Alpine F1 Team, this would not be the first time.

Before focusing on FC Nantes, Arnold was reportedly considering buying AS Saint-Etienne and Le Havre. The eight-time French champions are owned by Waldemar Kita, a French businessman who has never been well-liked by the Canaris supporters. Since taking over FC Nantes in 2007, Kita is said to have grown weary with the team’s financial and athletic setbacks.

Kita only made it clear that he would at least consider selling the team when he failed to construct a new privately owned stadium and the TV rights agreement fiasco. Before finally seeing the Arnolds in person those final few days in Geneva, Kita apparently had a videoconference with them last summer. According to reports, the buyout offer is for €100 million, which consists of a straight €80 million plus a €20 million seller credit plus other bonuses for up to €40 million.

The interested parties apparently met for the third time on Thursday in London. However, Kita would prefer to recover the majority of his losses, therefore it would be challenging for Alexander-Arnold to comply with his requests. Any takeover negotiations with the England international and his family have been refuted by Nantes. Due to the club’s financial difficulties, Girondins de Bordeaux was not purchased by Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, in the summer.

The Liverpool right back looks to follow in the footsteps of Kylian Mbappe and become the owner of a French club, just like the Real Madrid superstar.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
