New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants buried the ghosts of their humiliating loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2024 season after thrashing them by 5 wickets in Hyderabad on Thursday in the 18th season of the league. They overcame the thrashing they received last season with some fine bowling initially followed by an explosive batting from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran to register their first win of IPL 2025.
Opener Marsh looked high on confidence as he chipped in with a 31-ball 52-run knock which was studded with seven boundaries and two maximums while Pooran then went completely berserk smashing 70 runs in just 26 deliveries. The innings from both the batters guided the Super Giants to a victory in just 16.1 overs as they ended on 193/5 in reply to Hyderabad’s 190/9.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, skipper Pat Cummins picked 2/29 and Indian pacer Mohammed Shami registered figures of 1/37. Adam Zampa and Harshal Patel also contributed with one wicket apiece but failed to help their side get to the victory.
