New Delhi: Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has once again been dealt a cruel blow as he has been forced to the sidelines due to a new injury. The news comes as a heartbreaking setback for the England international who had recently returned to action after a prolonged injury absence.
Despite his resilience and determination Shaw’s injury woes continue to plague him, leaving him frustrated and disappointed. The club has confirmed that the latest injury is separate from his previous issues, adding to the complexity of his situation.
The injury has left Shaw ‘devastated’ as he took to social media to release a heartbreaking statement as he addressed fans. He expressed his frustration, saying, “It’s hard to write this as I thought I had overcome my recent struggles and was on a positive path. Unfortunately, I’ve faced a small setback. This has been my toughest period, and I’m devastated. I understand the frustration, disappointment, and anger others may feel, but no one feels it more than I do right now.”
Since the summer of 2023, the England international has made a total of 14 league game appearances and has clocked only 1031 minutes on the pitch. Shaw has made just three substitute appearances this season for the Red Devils after being sidelined since February.
The 29-year-old was seen in the action for the first time in the 2024-25 campaign in Ruben Amorim’s first game as United manager against Ipswich Town. He then made a cameo against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League and their 4-0 triumph over Everton in the Premier League last weekend but the latest knock has sidelined him for another several weeks.
Before this, he last appeared in Euro 2024 where he made just two substitute appearances in the knockout stages before starting in the 2-1 final loss to Spain.
What next for Man United?
Manchester United, who are yet to register a single loss since Erik ten Hag’s departure in October will be next seen in action today as they take on Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in a crucial Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium.
Shaw, who was sidelined for the first three months of the season due to a calf issue is now set to miss more time with an undisclosed injury. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
