Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde announces Rs 11 crore prize money for World champions Team India

New Delhi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced prize money of Rs 11 crore on Friday for the Indian cricket team which won the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados. He announced it in the central hall of the Vidhan Bhavan (state legislature complex) in Mumbai where four Mumbai players from the team – skipper Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shivam Dube were felicitated.

CM Shinde also shared glimpses of his interaction with the Indian players on his social media handle where the Mumbaikar-quartet could be seen getting shawls around their necks, a special insignia, and an idol of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for their momentous World Cup win as a mark of respect from the Maharashtra government. The event took place with all the members of the Vidhan Sabha present and heard what the players had to say about the gigantic win.

Meanwhile, CM Shinde in his speech, notably expressed his delight over the team’s victory against arch-rivals Pakistan. He also talked about Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliant catch that was a major turning point in the final game against South Africa. Other than the players, members of the support staff – bowling coach Paras Mhambre and team manager Arun Kanade were also felicitated.

CM Shinde lauds Mumbai Police

The chief minister also appreciated the Mumbai Police for their effective crowd management during the team’s victory parade at the Marine Drive in Mumbai on Thursday. The famous vicinity of south Mumbai saw a huge crowd that thronged the streets to catch a glimpse of their World Cup heroes. It was an open bus road show as the Men in Blue got onboard and greeted the fans by waving at them and flaunting the prestigious World Cup trophy.

Mumbai Police had a tough task indeed to ensure a smooth flow of the event amid a crowd that seemed to be increasing with each hour passing by. The open bus was following several police vehicles that cleared the way for it and was followed by several security vehicles as well to avoid any mishappening.
