Dhyan Chand, who remained active for almost three decades, helped India clinch their maiden gold medal in hockey at the Olympic Games in 1928. The ‘Magician’ or hockey wizard, as he was popularly called, created a huge impact which prompted youngsters in those days to consider hockey as a profession.
