New Delhi: South Africa have suffered a major blow ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 as star pacer
Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025. Cricket South Africa confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that the fast bowler will not participate in the CT 2025 as well as the ongoing SA20 league due to a back injury.
“Pretoria Capitals fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the remainder of the Betway SA20 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due a back injury,” Cricket South Africa said in a statement.

Nortje named in CT 2025 squad
The fast bowler, who was named in the team’s Champions Trophy squad initially, underwent scans on Monday which revealed the extent of his injury. Cricket South Africa has confirmed that he will not be fit in time for the 50-over event scheduled to start in Pakistan on February 19. The Proteas are set to begin their campaign on February 21 against Afghanistan in Karachi. His replacement is yet to be announced.
