Massive boost for Pakistan as Khurram Shahzad expected to be fit for England Tests

New Delhi: In what comes as a massive boost for Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad is expected to be fit for the upcoming Test series against England. The English side will tour Pakistan next month for a three-match Test series starting October 7. The Pakistan seamer missed the last part of the final day Test match between Bangladesh due to some pain and stiffness.

On the last day of the second Test match against the Bangla Tigers, which the hosts won by 6 wickets, Shahzad had to go off the field during the final hours of the game as he experienced some stiffness on the left side of the body. The pacer and the entire team thought that it was a fracture because of the intensity of the pain felt by the paceman.

Pakistan aim to show up against England

On Saturday finally, it was revealed that Shahzad did not suffer any fracture and it just a mild stiffness. He had been sent for scan and the report revealed that it was just a pain. After he was taken off the field, it was even suspected that he might miss next months Test series against England at home but it has been clarified that he is expected to be fine for the three Test matches. Pakistan would want to give it their best shot against England team after facing disappointment at home as they suffered a 2-0 clean sweep against Bangladesh.

Shahzad, 24, who was the second highest wicket-taker in the series, was earlier instrumental in triggering a first-innings collapse that saw Bangladesh reduced to 26 for 6. He took career-best figures of 6 for 90 in the innings, but was less effective in the second innings, taking 1 for 40 in the seven overs he bowled.
