Massive boost for Team India as Mohammed Shami set to make comeback soon

New Delhi: In a massive boost for Team India, star pacer Mohammed Shami, who was one of the best performers in the ODI World Cup 2023, is set for a comeback very soon. Shami, who has been out of cricketing action since the showpiece event because of a heel injury went through a successful surgery on Achilles Tendon in February and has finally starting practicing.

Comeback due in September

As per a report in India Today, after a long period of rehabilitation, the pacer is most likely to make a comeback at the start of India’s home season against Bangladesh. India are set to play two-match Test series against the Bangla Tigers starting on September 19 in Chennai and Shami will most likely be part of it. The second match of the series will be played in Kanpur as BCCI announced a jam-packed schedule for Team India for the upcoming season.

The seasoned seamer is likely to be selected for the Test series, but it seems that he will not be part of he T20I series that is to be followed after the Test matches. Shami has been consistent for India from last decade and has been a pivotal part of the team in the Test format especially, shaping it in the perfect manner. India’s pace resurgence is the longest format of cricket is dedicated to Shami.

The 33-year-old has taken 229 wickets in 64 Test matches so far, and along with Bumrah, he has been India’s standout pacer. While he seem to be certain for a comeback in the red-ball format, there is bit of a doubt over his comeback and future in the white-ball formats with injuries constantly hampering his progress. Hopefully, after getting on to the field for the Test matches, the quality seamer will make his comeback in ODIs and T20Is as well.
