Mayank Yadav ruled out of the four-match T20I series against South Africa
Mayank delivered a great performance in the T20I series against Bangladesh and was expected to be part of the Indian team for the four-match T20I series against South Africa but he wasn’t named in the squad as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) clarified that he will miss the series due to an injury.
“He’s back here for another problem, which might keep him out for three months. Mostly, it’s something related to the back, but there’s not much clarity on it. But then, it’s also something that is believed to keep him out for a considerable amount of time” said a source which was quoted as saying in the report.
“The way with which he came here, the first feelers from it are looking at him being out for two-three months initially and maybe, it could be more” the source added.
Mayank got a lot of attention during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 while playing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He troubled a lot of batters during the tournament but was ruled out of the season due to an abdominal strain. He then underwent extensive rehab and worked hard on regaining match fitness at the Centre of Excellence (formerly the NCA).
But now has got injured again. With the IPL retention deadline coming on October 31, Mayank is likely to be retained by LSG, who bought him for INR 20 Lakh in the auction before the 2022 season.
