New Delhi: Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Hardik Pandya was heavily fined after a Code of Conduct breach during his side’s clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Tuesday. GT defeated MI by three wickets in a rain-affected last-ball thriller to secure the top spot on the IPL 2025 points table.

Hardik was fined Rs 24 lakh for his team maintaining a slow over rate during the game. All players in the Mumbai Indians’ playing XI, including the impact player and the concussion substitute, were also penalised Rs 6 lakh or 25% of their match fees, whichever is lesser. It was Hardik’s second offence this season as he was earlier penalised for MI maintaining a slow over rate against the same opposition.

“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pandya was fined Rs 24 lakh,” the IPL said in a statement.

Hardik was fined Rs 12 lakh after his first offence against the Gujarat Titans earlier this season. Several other captains, including Rishabh Pant, have been charged for a slow over rate in the ongoing IPL 2025. Mumbai Indians lost the against GT by three wickets after pacer Deepak Chahar failed to defend 15 runs in the decisive last over after the match was reduced to a 19-overs-a-side contest due to rain.
