New Delhi: The Microsoft outage, which routed global business across segments, especially stock markets and banking, left airlines struggling with system downtime, unable to service flights and even issuing boarding passes. Budget carrier IndiGo ended up cancelling 192 flights, prompting the airline to issue advisories and set up a process for refunds as well as ticket rebookings.
The airline issued handwritten boarding passes owing to the system downtime. The airline stated that it was facing network-wide issues with Microsoft Azure, the IT giant’s cloud offering. “Check-ins may be slower and queues longer,” the airline warned earlier in the day. The airline also urged customers to refrain from multiple bookings.
