New Delhi: As Middle East remains on the brink of widening of Gaza war due to spilling of Israel-Hamas conflict to other regions, the world is staring at a crisis. Hezabollah on Sunday launched dozens of rockets towarsd Israel in revenge against its assault on Gaza. According to sources, around 50 rockets were fired from southern Lebanon towards Israel on Sunday.
Tensions in the Middle East surged with Iran and its allies reading their response to the killing of top Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran earlier this week. Following the deadly attack spurring fears of a regional war as Iran vowed revenge for the killing, US President Joe Biden hoped that Iran would “stand down” despite its threats to attack Israel.
Iran-backed Hezbollah said a statement that its rocket attacks on Moshav Beit Hillel in Israel injured civilians there, media reports suggested. In a statement, Hezbollah said it was a retaliatory attack to Israel’s strikes on Kfar Kela and Deir Siriane in Lebanon and after an Israeli strike in Beirut killed Fuad Shukr, a senior military commander from Hezbollah.

According to sources, the Dome system in Israel intercepted most rockets fired by Hezbollah. As per Israeli authorities,several impacts were recognised near Beit Hillel.In a statement, Hezbollah said: “In support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their valiant and honourable resistance, and in response to the Israeli enemy’s attacks on the steadfast southern villages and safe homes, especially the attacks that targeted the villages of Kafr Kila and Deir Siryan and injured civilians, the Islamic Resistance included the new settlement of Beit Hillel in its fire schedule and bombarded it for the first time with dozens of Katyusha rockets.”Israel’s strategic ally, US, said it was bolstering its military presence in the region to safeguard its personnel and defend the Jewish nation amid tensions remain high. Washington said it would deploy an aircraft carrier strike group led by the USS Abraham Lincoln, additional ballistic missile defense-capable cruisers and destroyers and a new fighter squadron in the region.Reacting on Iran’s threat to attack Israel, Biden said he hoped for Iran to ‘stand down’ The US Embassy in Beirut issued an advisory for its national to immediately leave Lebanon on “any ticket available” amid fears of a fresh regional war. The advisory came after UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy warned that the regional situation “could deteriorate rapidly”. Several countries, including Jordan, Canada and India, have issued similar advisories for their citizens to leave Lebanon as soon as possible.
