‘Mohammed Siraj official…’: Shubman Gill trolls pacer over viral old video – WATCH

New Delhi: Team India star Shubman Gill hilariously roasted his teammate Mohammed Siraj over an old viral video of the pacer during the recently concluded first Test between India and Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. India hammered Bangladesh by 280 runs in the Chennai Test to go 1-0 up in the two-match series.

The incident happened during Bangladesh’s second innings of the Test match. Gill was coming onto field at short leg when he decided to randomly poke fun at Siraj over an old clip of the pacer which keeps surfacing on social media where he had flagged fake Instagram accounts under his name.

“Mohammad Siraj official hi official ID hai, baaki sab fake hain,” Gill was caught saying on the stump mic, leaving wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant in splits. The video of Gill mocking Siraj caught the attention of fans on social media and went viral instantly.

For the unversed, Gill roasted Siraj over an old clip of the pacer that he had released fresh after making his official Instagram account. Siraj, who was making a name for himself in the Indian Premier League (IPL), back then, had made the video to clarify to his fans that his official account was the only real handle he used while the others under his name were fake.

“Mohammed Siraj Official Instagram page hai. Baaki sab jo hai vo fake hain (All the others are fake),” Siraj can be heard saying in the video, which has become meme material over the years.

Gill stars in India’s thumping victory against Bangladesh in 1st Test

Gill starred in India’s dominant victory against Bangladesh in the series opener in Chennai. After being criticised for getting out cheaply on a duck in the first innings, the prolific right-hander responded to his critics in style by bouncing back with a sublime century in the second innings. Gill slammed an unbeaten knock of 119 runs to help India set up a mammoth 515-run target for Bangladesh in their second innings.

It was Gill’s 5th ton in the World Test Championship (WTC) for India which saw him surpass Virat Kohli (4) on the list of batters with most centuries for India in the competition. Rohit Sharma is the only batter ahead of Gill on the elite list with 9 tons to his name in the WTC.
