Most wickets taken in international in 2024 – Tests + ODIs + T20Is ft. Jasprit Bumrah

New Delhi: The world has bid adieu to the year 2024 but the cricket action will continue to entertain the spectators with its nature of leaps and bounds as many big tournaments are scheduled in the new calendar year. But just for a quick rewind, there were some magical moments by bowlers with batters getting tantalised.

Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah, who has already induced the debate of being the greatest Indian fast bowlers of all-time, has claimed 86 dismissals in all the three formats of the international cricket, and played a decisive role in India winning their second T20 World Cup title in June.

Bumrah picked up 71 wickets in Tests and 15 wickets in T20 Internationals at an overall bowling average of 13.76 and an economy rate of 3.05 with the help of five fifers and best bowling figures of 6 for 45. Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has the second most wickets in the year with 64 scalps from 30 matches. Interestingly, the latter played only two formats in ODIs and T20Is.

Bangladesh seamer Taskin Ahmed and West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph have the third-joint highest wickets in 2024 with 63 dismissals each.

Most Test wickets in 2024

Jasprit Bumrah has claimed 71 Test wickets at an astounding average of 14.92 in 26 innings. He completed 200 Test wickets during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. England seamer Gus Atkinson picked up 52 Test wickets to finish second on the charts after the year while spin-bowling teammate Shoaib Bashir (49) was one wicket shy of 50 Test dismissals in 2024.

Most ODI wickets in 2024

Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and Canada right-arm medium pacer Dilon Heyliger were the joint-highest wicket-takers in One-Day Internationals in 2024, both bowlers took 26 wickets apiece. Afghanistan off-spinner Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar and Netherlands’ Aryan Dutt finished with 21 wickets each in the calendar year.

Most T20I wickets in 2024

Hong Kong off-breaker Ehsan Khan claimed 46 wickets in 26 innings at an economy rate of 6.05 to finish as the leading wicket-taker in the shortest format of international cricket in 2024. United Arab Emirates (UAE) medium pacer Junaid Siddique was second with 40 scalps at an economy rate of 7.58. With 38 wickets in 20 innings at an economy of 7.11, Hasaranga picked the highest wickets among bowlers from full member nations of the ICC.
