New Delhi: Legendary MS Dhoni added another feather to his illustrious cap as he became the first wicket-keeper to complete 200 dismissals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He achieved the stellar feat during Chennai Super Kings (CSK)’s clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2034 on Monday, April 14. Dhoni holds the record for the most dismissals by any keeper in IPL history.
The 43-year-old completed 200 dismissals as a keeper after stumping LSG batter Ayush Badoni off the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja during the 14th over of the hosts’ innings at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. He later took a catch to dismiss LSG skipper Rishabh Pant on 63 in the final over of LSG’s innings. Dhoni also pulled off a brilliant run-out to send Abdul Samad packing during the game, showcasing his amazing reflexes at 43.
Dhoni is on top of the elite list of wicket-keepers with most dismissals in the IPL. He has affected a total of 201 dismissals in 271 matches in his IPL career so far, including 155 catches and 46 stumpings. Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik is in the second spot on the elite list with 182 dismissals to his name, followed by AB de Villiers at the third spot.
