New Delhi: Republican Party candidate Donald Trump swept aside Democratic candidate Kamla Harris to become the 47th US President. After surviving two assassination attempts during his 2024 campaign, the 78-year-old business tycoon wooed the American voters to give him a second term.
His historic win shattered the hopes of millions of Harris supporters, who were eagerly waiting to see the nation elect the first woman President in the White House.
Trump, 78, became the oldest person in US history to be elected president.
After winning the swing states, Trump fans could smell the historic victory. As Trump edged closer to the White House comeback, former India skipper MS Dhoni’s fans started flooding social media platform X (formerly Twitter) with “Thala for a reason” memes with the hashtag “USAElection2024,” and a picture of the Indian icon alongside Trump.
A fan shared a post connecting the US Election Day date and Dhoni’s iconic jersey number 7.
