New Delhi: Team India received a massive boost ahead of the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as Shubman Gill returned to the nets after recovering from a thumb injury that he sustained during India’s match simulation at WACA. He missed the first Test match at Perth which the Men in Blue won by 295 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
Gill still has a week to get fully fit for the Day-Night Test match in Adelaide on December 6. He took throwdowns from India’s assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate and after he also helped him with his defence.
After returning from injury, Gill said that he is feeling much better and the injury recovery is much better than what he expected. He further added that he was just trying to get a feel of the bat on the first day.
“It was my first day, and I was just trying to get a feel to be honest, see how the injury is reacting if there was any kind of soreness. But it actually went much better than what I and Kamlesh bhai expected” Gill said in a video uploaded by BCCI.

‘Shubman Gill is looking comfortable while batting’: Abhishek Nayar
Team India’s batting coach Abhishek Nayar kept a close eye on Gill’s return to the nets and said that he is batting right now and the team’s physio will evaluate his status. He further added that Gill is looking comfortable while batting but after the physio’s assessment team will know about his participation in the practice match
“He is batting right now and our physio will evaluate him and I will know his status after that. But from what I have seen, he is looking comfortable batting and he looks like he can bat [in a match]. He is batting in the indoor nets and we will know if he can play the practice match or not,” he added.
