New Delhi: India made a great start to their Davis Cup 2025 campaign, taking a 2-0 lead over Togo on the first day of the World Group I Playoffs. At the DLTA Complex, Mukund Sasikumar and Ramkumar Ramanathan produced commanding performances as their won their respective singles matches, taking Team India to the brink of a victory.

Mukund secured a decisive win over Liova Ajavon in the opening match in style, setting the base for India’s campaign. Ramkumar did not stay behind as he was quick to double India’s advantage with a commanding victory over Thomas Setodji. Indian fans were left delightful after a double victory, waving tricolour flags and supporting their heroes to the fullest. The sizzling atmosphere helped in fueling the Indian players’ performances.

Mukund takes advantage from home crowd

Mukund took advantage of the home crowd as he claimed the first game in confidence before his opponent bounced back by levelling the score. This in turn made the game tense for a while before Mukund bounced back during the third game when he successfully defended a crucial potential break before decisively breaking Ajavon’s serve.

Despite his opponents efforts to get back in the game, Mukund maintained his calm taking the first set in his kitty. The second set seemed to be little easy for the Indian player who dominated the proceedings right from the beginning. He raced to a 4-0 lead eventually winning the set 6-1.

Meanwhile, Ramkumar did not give a chance to Setodji in the first set as he completely dominated from the word go claiming it 6-0. In the second set, Setodji showcased some resistance but it wasn’t enough to help him conquer over the Indian shuttler.
