Premier League: Man United’s Marcus Rashford on German giants Borussia Dortmund’s radar

New Delhi: Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford is drawing interest from plenty of sides from across Europe and it looks like German outfit Borussia Dortmund are the latest ones to have him on their radar. The 26-year-old has reportedly fallen out of favour under new new Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim and hasn’t played a single minute of football since the 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest exactly one month ago.

Rashford has been left out of Manchester United’s squad for five of the last six games the club has played and was an unused substitute in the game where he did make the squad. He started life under Amorim in good form, scoring the first goal of his tenure and followed that up with a brace in the 4-0 win over Everton. However, things went sour between the duo behind the scenes with Amorim questioning Rashford’s attitude and mentality.

🚨 Movements around Marcus Rashford have started as expected.

Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan have both asked for conditions of the deal.

Due to his prolonged absence from matchday squads, rumors of a Manchester United exit started swirling and Rashford all but confirmed them in a an interview after being dropped for the Manchester derby last month. He stated that he’s ready for a new challenge, indicating his openness to a move away from his boyhood club. Since the transfer window opened in January, clubs have been circling around the Manchester United academy product.

Rashford is a clinical attacker, capable of playing either down the wing or as a number nine, had been attracting a lot of interest from Italy. Now it looks like German giants Borussia Dortmund have joined the chasing pack as well. According to reputed outlet The Athletic, Rashford has drawn interest from BVB, along side Italian clubs like AC Milan and Juventus and a few unnamed Premier League clubs.

Manchester United have a long standing relationship with Borussia Dortmund having acquired the likes of Shinji Kagawa, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jadon Sancho in the past. Dortmund plan to plot a loan move for Rashford, similar to how they brought Jadon Sancho back to the club in January of last year. Any deal to get Rashford permanently would involve a big transfer fee so a loan with an option to buy in the summer seems like a possibility.

After it was revealed last night that AC Milan are also considering a loan move for the English international, one thing that’s certain is that the Manchester United attacker will have no shortage of options to choose from. Serie A leaders Napoli have also expressed an interest in Rashford and with his former teammate, Scott McTominay, someone Rashford knows since their academy days, already present at the club, a move to Naples might be a tempting option as well.
