New Delhi: Mutual fund investment in India has reached new highs owing to greater investor awareness about the power of compounding and the conscious decision to create a portfolio based on market-indexed returns, compared to more conservative fixed returns offered by banking instruments and debt mutual funds.
RBI governor Shaktikanta Das shared that Indians had moved to invest in mutual funds as compared to traditionally banking on banks to store their savings. As of June 2024, the MF industry reported combined assets under management worth Rs 61.16 lakh crore, a 22 per cent rise from December 2023, when the AUm first crossed the Rs 50 lakh crore mark.
