New Delhi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has made a blunt remark on the current conditions of the cricket stadiums in Pakistan. Naqvi acknowledged the fact that there is a huge gap between the stadiums in Pakistan and other countries and it needs to be filled the earliest.
He further stated that it is the responsibility of the Pakistan Cricket Board to fill the gap and make the cricket stadiums in the country ready for the Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan is set to host the 2025 showpiece event and currently, the restructuring of the stadiums has started to some extent. On his recent visit to the most famous Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the PCB boss pointed out the changes in the infrastructure ahead of the marquee event in February.
Plan to built a world-class hotel near stadium
The PCB chief is also hopeful that the Gaddafi Stadium will be able to hosts the key games in next year’s event and simultaneously, work is also going on in the Karachi stadium, which is also being prepared for the Champions Trophy. Naqvi also has plans to build a world-class hotel near the stadium, however, there is no guarantee that it will be completed by the time February arrives.
Interestingly, there is still no confirmation from the ICC regarding the hosts of the Champions Trophy. Indian team is unwilling to travel, and doubts remain about their participation from the mega event. There are also speculations that a neutral venue has also been kept in the mind by the International Cricket Council (ICC) if India do not travel to the neighbouring nation.
Meanwhile, Pakistan are set to host Bangladesh for a two-match Test series starting August 21. The first match will be played at Rawalpindi while the second will take place at Karachi.
