New Delhi: Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill missed out on a well-deserved hundred as he fell victim to nervous 90s once again during his side’s clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Monday, April 21. Gill was dismissed after scoring 90 runs off 55 balls during GT’s innings at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Opening the batting with Sai Sudharsan, Gill started steadily after Gujarat Titans were asked to bat first in the game. He picked up two boundaries off Harshit Rana in the 5th over to find some momentum and completed his fifty off 34 balls in the 11th over. Gill upped the ante after completing his half-century and raced to 90 off the next 20 balls.
However, he was undone by a low full toss from KKR pacer Vaibhav Arora in the 18th over. Gill used his wrist to guide the delivery over mid-wicket for a six, but failed to generate enough power in the shot as he was caught by Rinku Singh. He fell short of the three-figure mark by 10 runs and ended up getting dismissed in the nervous 90s for the second time in his IPL career.
With his second dismissal in the 90s in the IPL, Gill equalled the likes of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul among others on the list of batters to have been dismissed on 90s the most times in the IPL. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad is on top of the unwanted list having been dismissed thrice in the 90s in his IPL career so far.
