New Delhi: Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja praised selfless MS Dhoni, revealing that he has never heard the former India captain talk about his own milestones. Dhoni is arguably India’s most successful captain of all time, having won nearly everything that was to be during his captaincy stint with the Men in Blue. He remains the only captain to have won all three major ICC limited-overs trophies as captain.
Dhoni led India to T20 World Cup glory in 2007 before winning the ODI World Cup in 2011, followed by the Champions Trophy triumph in 2013. The legendary wicket-keeper batter is also one of the most successful captains in the history of IPL, having led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to a record-equalling five titles and 10 finals.
Jadeja, who made his international debut for India under Dhoni, has played with the India legend for over 15 years now with Team India and Chennai Super Kings. Jadeja is Dhoni’s teammate at CSK as the 43-year-old continues to go strong in the IPL. The star all-rounder was part of the Indian squad that won the Champions Trophy under Dhoni in 2013 and has won 4 IPL titles with CSK under his captaincy.
On his latest appearance on R Ashwin’s YouTube channel, Jadeja opened up on Dhoni’s leadership qualities and revealed why he is one of the most selfless players he has come across in his career. Jadeja said he has spent several years playing with Dhoni, but never heard him talk about his milestones. He admitted that he has learnt these qualities from the CSK legend and applies them in his own game.
“I have watched Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) from so close, but I have never heard him talk about his milestones. He never says oh, I should have gotten my century or anything. Never. I have not heard a single time from his mouth about his fifty or a century. He always thinks about the other ten players in the team,” Jadeja told Ashwin.
“I have also learnt from him how to give the team respect because it’s a team game and how to get the best out of your players,” he added.

Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni are real selfless cricketers. They never cared about personal milestones. There’s a reason they won trophies as captains, while some haven’t in 18 years of their career. (Laughs)😭😭 pic.twitter.com/R8yvrC3sEk

CSK endure poor campaign in IPL 2025
Chennai Super Kings endured a horror season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as they finished at the bottom of the points table with just 8 points from 14 matches, managing just 4 wins throughout the season. CSK got off to a winning start, but lost their next five matches in a row before regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out due to an injury.
Dhoni took over captaincy from Gaikwad, but failed to revive his side’s fortunes as CSK managed only three wins in their remaining 8 matches to finish last in what was their worst-ever season. CSK will be looking for a major rebuild in the IPL 2026 auction ahead of the new season as they hope to bounce back next year.
