In the video, Minaj, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, is heard discussing “pre-rolls they found” with the police. When she questions the officers about why she is being detained, they inform her that she is “under arrest” for “carrying drugs.” Minaj firmly denies the accusation, stating, “I’m not carrying drugs.”

Throughout the live stream, Minaj repeatedly asks for the address of the police station and insists on having a lawyer present. The police, in turn, request that she stop filming. The tense exchange highlights the gravity of the situation as Minaj navigates the legal procedures in a foreign country.
Reportedly, the Dutch military police confirmed that a 41-year-old American woman was arrested at Schiphol Airport with “soft drugs.” Although the authorities did not initially disclose her identity, it became apparent that Minaj was the individual in question. She was taken into custody and interrogated at the police station.
Nicki Minaj’s soft drug case
Later on Saturday, in an updated statement to CNN, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee announced that the woman detained for “suspicion of exporting soft drugs” had been released. “Following consultation with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect received a monetary fine and is now permitted to continue her journey,” the statement read.
This incident occurred amid Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 World Tour, which supports her latest album released late last year. She was scheduled to perform in Manchester, UK, on Saturday night, May 25. However, due to the arrest and subsequent legal proceedings, the show has been postponed, as announced by the concert venue Co-op Live on their X (formerly Twitter) account. Minaj had previously performed in Amsterdam on Thursday night.
Minaj’s representatives have yet to comment on the situation.
