New Delhi: Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema disagreed with Cristiano Ronaldo’s claim that he is the greatest player of all time. He acknowledged other big players like Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona, and Pele while Ronaldo reckons he is the most complete player.
Ronaldo and Messi are considered two of the greatest players in the history of football. The two superstars have named the last decade to their name as they entertained fans countless times but Benzema snubbed them while naming his pick in the debate.
When the Frenchman was asked to name who he thinks is the best player ever he picked another No.9 Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazario. The 37-year-old said, “Everyone can say what they want. If he thinks he’s the best in history, fine, then it’s him. For me, for example, it’s Ronaldo, the one from Brazil. But Cristiano is who he is. I don’t like making comparisons between players; I believe each has their own story, and he has his, he’s very good.”
Benzema has played with Ronaldo for nine years joining the Real Madrid alongside in 2009. Despite witnessing the countless records Ronaldo set during his time with the club, the Al-Ittihad captain doesn’t believe that’s enough to make him the best player.

Ronaldo’s statement
Ronaldo earlier caused outrage with his confident statement that his longevity at the top and goal-scoring numbers as reasons behind his belief that he is the greatest of all time. In an interview with Spanish outlet El Chiringuito said, “I honestly haven’t seen anyone better than me. You have to look at the numbers full stop.”
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner further added that he is the most complete player who has ever existed saying, “I do everything in football. I play well in terms of heading the ball, I’m good at free-kicks, I’m good with my left foot, I’m quick, I’m strong, I jump. I am the best player ever, I believe that.”
Ronaldo’s other former teammate Angel Di Maria also took umbrage with his declaration earlier. The Argentine is one of the few who have played with both Ronaldo and Messi and holds a different opinion. Maria chose his Argentina teammate Messi and said he is the best in the world and the best in history.
