New Delhi: India’s Navdeep Singh clinched a historic gold medal in the men’s javelin throw F41 event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 after some late disqualification drama following the conclusion of the final. Navdeep was declared the gold medal winner after Iran’s Sadegh Beit Sayah, who initially won the gold medal in the final, was disqualified.
Sayah had shattered the Paralympics record with a throw of 47.64m in the final. However, his record throw was not counted after he was disqualified from the competition due to unsporting or improper conduct. The Paralympic committee confirmed that India’s Navdeep silver was upgraded to gold after the Iranian’s disqualification.
Navdeep clinched gold with his impressive throw of 47.32m which is his personal best and a Paralympic record now that Sayah’s 47.64m stands disqualified. The 23-year-old from New Delhi scripted history as he became the first Indian to win a gold medal in men’s javelin F41 category at the Paralympics.

Navdeep Singh.
Foul-mouthed, hyper-aggressive Delhi-NCR boy.
But what really matters is that he got the F41 javelin gold🥇for the nation.
Not from the khaps but in the Paris #Paralympics.

It was a thrilling final which saw Navdeep go head to head with the Iranian for the elusive gold. The 23-year-old Indian didn’t have the best of starts in the final as he began with a foul throw in his first attempt. However, he got his act together in his second attempt and produced a strong effort of 46.39m which put him in medal contention.
However, Navdeep’s best was yet to come as he went on to break the Paralympic record with a monstrous throw of 47.32 m, his personal best as well. He was in the lead and in the gold medal position after the first three attempts from all six athletes in the final. However, he was displaced from the top by Iranian Sayah, who threw 47.64m in his 5th attempt.
Sayah sealed the gold medal with his mighty effort which also saw him break Navdeep’s Paralympics record. However, it was heartbreak for the Iranian after the final as he was disqualified due to improper conduct with his throw not getting counted. His disqualification propelled Navdeep to his maiden Paralympic gold and helped him enter the record books for India.
India’s 7th gold medal at Paris Paralympics 2024
Navdeep’s gold medal in the men’s javelin F41 event extended India’s gold medals tally at the Paris Paralympics 2024 to seven. India had already surpassed their previous-best tally of 5 gold medals in Tokyo 2020 with their sixth gold won by Praveen Kumar in the men’s high jump – T64 category on Friday. India have won a total of 29 medals at the Paris Games so far, including 7 gold and 10 silver medals.
India’s Navdeep Singh’s silver medal was upgraded to gold after Iran’s Sadegh Beit Sayah, who initially won the gold medal in men’s javelin F41 event was disqualified. Other Sports Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
