New Delhi: We have reached the final day of the Paris Olympics 2024 men’s football competition. The best of the football world have been tested by trial by fire to come this far into the competition as the four teams battle out for three medals.
In the first game, Egypt will face Morocco. Egypt lost to France after coming very close to an appearance in the finals. Egypt fought well in the first half and opened the score in the second. However, late goals from the hosts meant Egypt will now fight for the Bronze medal.
Egypt’s opponent, Morocco, had started well against Spain in the semi-final, going into half-time with a lead. However, Spain bounced back well in the second half which means either of the African countries will head home with at least a bronze medal.
Hosts France have been undefeated in the entire tournament. They have dominated games against big teams like Argentina. Les Bleus’ performance in the semi-final nearly saw them lose a place in the finals, but the French team held their nerves as they won in extra time.
Spain reached the finals after being on the back foot for most of the game. They lost one game in the group stage but have been in good form since. Their senior team won a dominating game against France in the semi-final of the recently concluded Euro 2024.
It will be interesting to see who will finish on the podium as the final four teams fight for a medal. Either Egypt or Morocco will have their first Olympic medal ever in football. France and Spain are looking for their second Gold medal in the competition, with Spain having won the Silver medal thrice before and France winning one silver medal before.
