Paris 2024 Paralympics: India’s medal tally, results and full list of winners

New Delhi: Para-shuttler Nitesh Kumar etched his name in history books by claiming a gold medal in the men’s singles SL3 category on Monday. The Haryana player defeated Daniel Bethell of Great Britain in a thrilling final to claim India’s ninth medal of the Paris 2024 Paralympics. Nitesh registered a 21-14, 18-21, 23-21 victory in an hour and 20 minutes to bag India’s second gold in Paris.

Para-shooter Avani Lekhara, last week, scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to win two Paralympic gold medals. The ace athlete defended her women’s 10m air rifle title to clinch India’s first gold in Paris.

Courtesy of the Nitesh’s gold, India jumped to 22nd place in the medals tally with two gold, three silver and four bronze medals.

With several medals still at stake, India remain on course to better the performance of Tokyo 2020, which was India’s most successful Paralympic Games with 19 medals including five gold, eight silver and six bronze.

While Avani won the gold in the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 shooting event with a world record score, her compatriot Mona Agarwal won bronze.

Rubina Francis and Manish Narwal won two more shooting medals for India.

Meanwhile, Preethi Pal secured a bronze in the women’s 100m T35 race with a personal best time before winning another bronze medal in the 200m T35 race.

Nishad Kumar claimed silver in the men’s high jump T47 while Yogesh Kathuniya bagged the silver in the men’s discus F56 final.
