The likes of Japan, China, France, South Korea, and Australia are topping the charts with the most medals and India had their say with an entry in the medal tally on the second day.
Although the Games are majorly going through the group stage fixtures or qualifying rounds, those done with the qualifications are playing the knockout games. Indian shooter Manu Bhaker, who qualified for the finals of women’s 10m air pistol on the opening day itself, made the nation proud by winning a bronze medal, India’s first at the ongoing Games. She became the first Indian woman shooter to bag an Olympic medal.
The fourth day for India is again highlighted by shooters as the Indian pair of Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh will be vying for a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. They were qualified for the bronze medal match on the previous day. It is a brilliant opportunity for Bhaker to bag another medal and etch her name in history.
Out of the 205 participating nations, India is being represented by its 117-member delegation. A number of Indian athletes will be in action on the fourth day, playing across six sports. Also eyeing a medal will be shooter Prithiviraj Tondaiman, who, if qualified, can compete for the gold medal as well. It promises to be an exciting day!
