New Delhi: Ace shuttler Lakshya Sen will be hoping to bag India’s 4th medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Day 10, Monday when he takes on Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia in the bronze medal match in men’s singles. Lakshya went down fighting against reigning Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen in the semi-final on Sunday but will get another shot at winning a medal on Monday.
Lakshya has enjoyed a stellar debut campaign at the Paris Olympics and has a chance to create history in the bronze medal match against Lee Zii Jia. The 22-year-old has a chance to become the first Indian male shuttler to win an Olympic medal. Earlier Lakshya had become the first male shuttler from the country to reach the semi-final of an Olympics.
India have so far secured only three medals at the Paris Olympics 2024 and all of them have come from shooting. Lakshya will be hoping to add the first medal to India’s tally outside shooting at the ongoing Games. Apart from Lakshya, the focus will also be on Indian shooters and paddlers who will be in action on Day 10.
The trio of Manika Batra, Sreeja Akula and Archana Kamath will take on Romania in the table tennis women’s team match. Asian Games gold medallist Avinash Sable will also begin his campaign in Paris and will be hoping to make it to the final of the 3000m steeplechase.
Nisha Dahiya will start India’s wrestling campaign at the Paris Games as she will be competing in the women’s 68kg category. She will be aiming to reach the quarter-final. Vishnu Saravanan and Nethra Kumanan will be in action for India in sailing. Shooters Maheshwari Chauhan and Anantjeet Singh Naruka will have a shot at winning a medal if they can qualify for the final of the skeet mixed team event.
