New Delhi: Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh defeated Korea for bronze and won the second medal for India on Tuesday. There are many big boxing, shooting, archery, and badminton matches on Day 5 of the Paris Olympics.
PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy will be in action in the badminton singles event. Sindhu will face Estonia’s Kristin Kuuba. In the men’s event, Lakshya will lock horns against Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie, while Prannoy will face Vietnam’s Duc Phat Le.
India will look to add more medals to the tally as shooters Rajeshwari Kumari and Shreyasi Singh will be in action in the women’s trap qualification (final later for the medal if either of them qualified) while in men’s qualification round, Aishwary Pratap and Swapnil Kusale will be competing in the 50m rifle 3 Positions.
Boxer Lovlina Borgohain will also start her campaign in the Paris Olympics with a bout against Norway’s Sunniva Hofstad in the women’s 75 kg boxing event. Nishant Dev will also face Jose Tenorio in the men’s 71 kg boxing event.
Sreeja Akula will be up against Singapore’s Jian Zeng in the round of 32 clash in the women’s singles Table Tennis event. Manika Batra will also be in action later in the day in the round of 16.
Archer’s Tarundeep Rai and Deepika Kumari will try to proceed to the next round of men’s and women’s recurve individual events. Anush Agarwalla will be in action in the Dressage Individual Group stage in Equestrian. The top 2 athletes from each group and the 6 athletes with the next best scores (including ties) will qualify for the final.
