Paris Olympics: Golfer Diksha Dagar unhurt in car accident, will participate as planned

New Delhi: Indian golfer Diksha Dagar was involved in an accident but escaped unhurt and will compete at Paris Olympics as planned.

Apart from Diksha, his father and caddie Colonel Naren Dagar, her mother and brother, were inside the car when it collided with another vehicle on Tuesday when they were returning from a function at the India House in Paris.

Col Dagar later said Diksha suffered no injuries and will compete in as per her schedule from August 7 and has been training for it.

But Diksha’s mother has been admitted to a hospital with a suspected injury in the spinal area and is expected to remain on the mending bed for several days to undergo treatment.

The extent of Diksha’s mother’s injury is yet to be known and further tests and diagnosis are awaited before identifying with her medical condition.

Diksha was fourth in her maiden Olympic apperance at Tokyo 2020 and she would hope to win a medeal in her second Games when the women’s competition begins on August 7 and stretch till August 10.

Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar represents India in the men’s section.
