As crowd management becoming a daunting task for the police, check points have been set up at the junction connecting Kalpetta and the landslide-hit places to prevent people from entering these areas unnecessarily. At the same time, volunteer groups from other states have come forward to help with traffic and crowd management.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has requested the public not to go for massive collection of essential items for relief camps set up for those affected by the landslides in Chooralmala and Mundakkai. Speaking at a media briefing in Thiruvananthapuram, he emphasised that such large-scale collection efforts, although well-intentioned, may not be beneficial to the people in landslide-affected areas. Chief Minister added that all the relief materials in the respective districts should be handed over to the district collectors and the financial help towards the calamity should be handed over to the Chief Ministers Disaster Relief Fund.

On the search and rescue front in Mundakkai, the army and the NDRF units have begun the search operation at the landslide site using earth moving machines.
