New Delhi: After mixed results on Day 1, the Indian contingent will be back in action on Day 2. Sheetal Devi recorded a new personal best score of 703 while Rakesh Kumar finished fifth in the men’s category with a score of 696. The duo smashed the world record with a combined score of 1399 to set a new Paralympic Record at the Paris edition of the Games.
Team India will look to open its medal tally on Friday, August 30. Shuttlers Manasi Joshi will compete in women’s singles SL3 group stage A. Manoj Sarkar and Suhas Yathiraj will also be in action in men’s singles SL3 and SL4 group stage. The two-time Paralympic medalist Avani Lekhra will begin her shooting campaign.
Karam Jyoti and Sakshi Kasana will participate in the women’s discus throw F55 final, presenting a great opportunity for India’s first podium finish in para-athletics. Preethi Pal will also be in action in the women’s 100m T35 final and will look to win a medal for the country.
Sarita will face Nur Jannaton Abdul Jalil of Malaysia in the Round of 32 in archery. Manish Narwal who won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics will be in action in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 category.
