New Delhi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on South African Gary Kirsten following his exit as Pakistan’s white-ball head coach. Naqvi said that Kirsten had to end his tenure as the coach after he made some breaches of his contract with the Pakistan cricket board.
It was earlier reported that Kirsten resigned after having some rife with PCB and the Pakistan team management after the coaches were stripped of their powers in matters regarding to selection of players. While there have been multiple rumours on various media sources, Kirsten is yet make an official comment to present his actual side of the story.
Kirsten ended contract with PCB: Naqvi
The PCB chief further said that Kirsten has ended the contract with the board himself and the board did not ask him to resign. He said that he had made made some breaches and that’s the reason why he ended his contract. Naqvi did not make any more comments on the matter. Though the exact reason for his exit is not known, some sources have confirmed that Kirsten was not involved with board during the squads selection for the Australia and Zimbabwe tours and that’s what irked him.
PCB sources have claimed that the South African coach had breached some clauses of his contract, notably by not spending enough time in Pakistan and insisting on having a full foreign coaching support staff. The PCB chief said that they had already started the process of finding a new head coach of the white ball team and he had already spoken to some 4-5 candidates. He further assured that Pakistan will have a white-ball coach by the end of this month because the search is on swiftly.
