New Delhi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has sold the VIP hospitality box allocated for him for the Champions Trophy, putting the money into the organisation he heads.

Naqvi agreed to sell 30 premium seats that was earmarked for his family and guests in Dubai for around 400,000 dirhams (Rs 94 lakh), according to reports in the Pakistani media.

He will now take a seat in regular enclosures of the stands during Pakistan’s much anticipated clash against India in Dubai in February 23, soaking in the atmosphere among the stands.

Naqvi has told the International Cricket Council that he prefers to watch the proceedings from among the general fans, adding that the PCB will bear expenses of around 18 billions rupees for upgradation of Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi stadiums from the money received from gate and seating receipts received.

Pakistan host Champions Trophy from February 19, their first major global cricket tournament since the 1996 ODI World Cup.

Rauf back in nets

Injured pacer Haris Rauf has resumed bowling and is available for selection in Pakistan’s CT opener against New Zealand on Feb 19. He bowled at full tilt in the nets and felt no discomfort, adding he is comfortable to resume competitive action.

“I have started doing exercises a few days back and also resumed bowling since yesterday. I am feeling comfortable and my body is okay now the team management will decide about my playing in the opening match,” Haris said in Karachi on Monday.

Rauf picked up a muscular strain in his lower chest wall during Pakistan’s tri-series also involving NZ and South Africa but was kept in their 15-member squad for CT though uncapped Akif Javed was called as cover.

The right armer has concentrated on building a white-ball career and has 83 wickets in 46 ODIs and 110 wickets in 79 T20Is.
