New Delhi: The Union government’s department of pension and pensioners’ welfare (DoPPW) announced the rollout of Form 6-A, a simplified pension application form which can be accessed on the Centre’s Bhavishya or e-HRMS portal. The form will be available on the portals cited above for government personnel who are set to retire starting from December 2024. Officials enrolled on e-HRMS will fill out form 6A from this portal. Those not enrolled on e-HRMS can fill out the form on the Bhavishya portal, according to an official statement.

What is Form 6-A?
Form 6A merges 9 forms and formats, namely, Forms 6, 8, 4, 3, A, Format 1, Format 9, FMA as well as Zero Option Form. The government amended rules 53, 57, 58, 59, and 60 of the CCS Pension Rules, 2021 to consolidate Form 6A. The form paves the way for digitisation of the pension application process, according to an official statement. “Form Simplification has been an important initiative of the government’s ‘Maximum Governance – Minimum Government’ policy,” it added.
What are Bhavishya and e-HRMS portals?
Developed by the National Informatics Centre in Himachal Pradesh, eHRMS is an awarded government portal for manpower planning. eHRMS Manav Sampada is a good governance initiative that links various government offerings and houses information regarding the calculation of benefits and job postings, among other HR functions.
Bhavishya is the online pension sanction and payment tracking system of the Indian government. It helps to deliver pension payment orders for retiring employees on the date of retirement. The Bhavishya portal provides tracking and update facilities for pension requests. Bhavishya 9.0 was developed in partnership with the State Bank of India, the ET reported, citing an official release.
