PM Modi, Bajrang Punia among others to wish Aman Sehrawat on Paris Olympics bronze medal

New Delhi: Aman Sehrawat bags India’s first wrestling medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 as the sport continues to flourish by leaps and bounds. On Friday, Aman defeated Darian Cruz of Puerto Rico 13-5 in the bronze medal playoff of the men’s 57kg freestyle at the Champ-de-Mars Arena.

The 21-year-old continued India’s medal streak at the Olympics, particularly after the heartbreak of Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification in women’s 50kg event ahead of the gold medal match due to overweight. But Aman’s success will bring joy to the wrestling fraternity as well as the Indian sports fans in the country.

At just 21 years and 24 days, Aman became the youngest Indian to win an individual Olympic medal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the charge to congratulate the prodigious talent.

“More pride thanks to our wrestlers! Congratulations to Aman Sehrawat for winning the Bronze Medal in the Men’s Freestyle 57 kg at the Paris Olympics. His dedication and perseverance are clearly evident. The entire nation celebrates this remarkable feat,” the PM wrote on his X handle.
