Arne Slot had mentioned in the games against Leverkusen and Brighton that the team lacked intensity during the starting stages of the match. Leone Bailey had almost found the back of the net from Youri TIeleman’s cross. Jacob Ramsey, too, was making a run for the Liverpool goalpost, but Ryan Gravenberch blocked the effort.

Villa though were strong in patches were lacking in the final third and were often prone to breaks. After Salah’s assist in the 20th minute, he produced his eighth goal for the season in the 84th minute when Diego Carlos headed the ball straight towards the Egyptian. Salah then sprinted ahead and eluded Emiliano Martinez to hand Unai Emery’s side a 2-0 defeat.
