Premier League 2024/25: Wolves humiliate 10-men Manchester United at Molineux

New Delhi: Manchester United lose their second consecutive Premier League fixture against relegation threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers. The full-time whistle blows at Molineux, and the Vitor Pereira era continues in remarkable form with a 2-0 triumph over toothless Manchester United.

There was drama from the very first minute of the game as the home side made a sloppy mistake early on when Noussair Mazraoui nipeds in to win the ball, which fell to Rasmus Hojlund. The Dane passed it back to his teammate, but his cross just misses Fernandes at the far post. It was Strand Larsen who threatened for Wolves and responded with a low drilled shot towards the United goal which was comfortably saved by Andre Onana in the 17th minute.

The first half was an exciting one to watch despite the fact that there were no goals, but both the sides managed to threaten one another’s posts. However, as the second half began, Manchester United were down to 10 men in the 47th minute of the game. Captain Bruno Fernandes was sent off after the refree decided that it was a late challenge by him which was also slightly high on Nelson Semedo. It was clearly an unnecessary one to give away as it became a huge setback for the visitors early in the second half.

Just two minutes after the red card, Strand Larsen expertly put the ball in the net, but the goal was ruled off after a VAR check that suggested he was offside while he scored the goal. It didn’t take them long to score the opener though, as the magic of Matheus Cunha helped them go in front in the 58th minute when he floated his corner kick over Andre Onana and directly into the far corner. The Manchester United number one wanted a free kick, but his complaints went unheard.

Cunha was involved yet again when he rolled the ball towards Hee-Chan Hwang, before the South Korean put his shot past Onana to make it 2-0 in the final moments of the game. Wolves’ victory moves them out of the relegation zone ahead of Leicester’s game against league leaders Liverpool later this week, while Ruben Amorim’s United remain 14th after suffering their second consecutive league defeat.

There is absolutely no doubt about who the player of the match was, as the Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha shpwed United why he is one of the most in-form players in the league right now. His overall play and the way he tricked all the United defenders was something that really impressed the set of fans and that goal was simply a thing of beauty from Cunha, when he managed to hit it from a corner, only for the ball to float over Onana and find the net.

He was everywhere on the pitch tonight and it even in the dying minutes, the Brazilian managed to get himself an assist when he found Hwang up front before the Korean international put his shot past the United keeper to make it 2-0 in the minutes of the game. It has truly been an astonishing run of form for the Brazilian forward and his performances are proving to be vital for Wolves. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season pans out for him.

Wolves manage to beat Manchester United 2-0 at Molineux to move out of the relegation zone while sinking United to 14th. It was Matheus Cunha’s brilliance that led the home side to an impressive win against United.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
