New Delhi: As we head towards the final matchday before the last International break of the year, the Premier League has given the fans something to be excited about. October’s award winners have been announced by the league. Earlier in the month, the Premier League had announced it’s nominees for the EA Sports Player of the Month, Barclays Manager of the Month and the Guinness Goal of the Month.
We haven’t seen any repeat winners from the last month and all the winners in these three categories are winning it for the first time in this campaign. Chelsea’s new manager, Enzo Maresca won the Manager of the Month for September but wasn’t nominated this time. Last month’s winner, Cole Palmer was once again amongst the nominees for Player of the Month. Jhon Duran, who won the Goal of the Month last time around, didn’t find a place on the list time time though.

The nominees for this month’s award were stacked as players from various teams were vying to be crowed the best player of the month. Ultimately, it was Nottingham Forest’s 32-year-old star striker who created history and won the award for the first time in his career after a blistering start to the season. His great form at the start of the season picked up in October which led him to become the first New Zealander to win the accolade.
He also became the first ever Nottingham Forest player to win the award courtesy of his four goals in three games in October. Half of his goals this season came last month as he’s quickly risen up to second in the list of top goal scorers with eight goals, sitting only behind Erling Haaland. He beat out teammate Matz Sels, Brighton’s Danny Welbeck, Leicester’s Facundo Buonanotte, Man City’s Josko Gvardiol, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Brentford’s Bryan Mbuembo and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer to grab the prize.

Making it a double swoop for the Garibaldi, manager Nuno Espirito Santo was named the manager of the month after keeping Forest unbeaten for the entire month of October and that too against credible opposition. This marked Nuno’s fifth manager of the month win of his career and he now moves level on par with famous managers like Carlo Ancelotti, Eddie Howe, and Claudio Ranieri.
He navigated through a tricky run of fixtures in October and earned seven points from a possible nine, with wins over Leicester City and Crystal Palace and a draw with Chelsea. Nobody expected Nottingham Forest to have such an amazing start to the season but the Portuguese manager has them sitting 3rd in the Premier League table currently. He defeated the likes of City’s Pep Guardiola, Brighton’s Fabian Hürzeler, and Liverpool’s Arne Slot to take home the award.
Guinness Goal of the Month
Palmer’s pass, Neto’s cross, Jackson’s finish…

Chelsea missed out on the first two categories after winning both the awards last month but managed to take some positive out from October. While the month wasn’t as successful on the whole for the club, they still managed to score the best goal of the month. Nicolas Jackson’s opening strike against Newcastle in their 2-1 win over the Toons finished a brilliant move that was created by Palmer and was chosen as the Goal of the Month. Palmer’s pinpoint through ball to Pedro Neto, who showed great awareness to get past the Newcastle defender before playing it across to Jackson for an easy finish.
This makes it the first time Jackson has won any Premier League award since his move from Villareal last summer and the ninth goal of the month award that Chelsea have won since its inception. He beat out some great strikes such as Buonanotte’s powerful strike against Bournemouth, Andreas Pereira’s volley against Man City, Jeremy Doku’s winner against Fulham, Alejandro Garnacho’s equalizer against Brentford, Ryan Christie’s opener against Arsenal, Gvardiol’s equalizer against Wolves and Saka’s opener against Liverpool.
Premier League Save of the Month
It’s 1-1. 90+13′. And your goalkeeper does this…

After missing out on the first two categories, Chelsea have completed a sweep of the next two categories as Robert Sanchez has been awarded with the Premier League Save of the Month trophy. The Spaniard’s reactionary stop to Jota Silva’s header in the 13th minute of extra time saved the Blues from a home defeat and kept the score level at 1-1. He got down extremely quickly to put a palm against Silva’s header that looked to be creeping into the bottom corner of the net. This marks the second time the Spaniard has won the award, winning it for the first time back in September 2023.
No player has won the award more than two times since it’s inception in the 2022/23 season. Sanchez beat out six other outstanding stops to claim the prize, with them being Jose Sa’s diving effort to deny Bernardo Silva, Sels’ effort to deny Eberechi Eze’s long range shot, Mads Hermansen’s point blank save against Forest’s Nicolás Domínguez, Mark Traver’s diving stop to thwart Amadou Onana and Dean Henderson’s reflex save to stop James Maddison.
