Premier League giants chase Dani Olmo amid Barcelona’s registration setback

New Delhi: According to a few reports, Arsenal, City, and United are all closely monitoring Dani Olmo’s future, indicating that interest in the player is increasing. Olmo has long been re-registered by Barcelona, and according to MARCA, the Spain international still has complete hope that his future will be settled amicably. However, Olmo’s provisional registration, which was only granted as an emergency measure after Andreas Christensen’s injury, is set to expire on December 31 and Barcelona are not in a position to extend it right now.

Barcelona have privately promised to do whatever it takes to keep Olmo. They are looking into methods to acquire money through new sponsorship deals or director investment, which would allow them the financial freedom to register Olmo, but they will first appeal the court’s decision on Monday. But as of right now, Olmo will not be able to play for Barcelona when they play Barbastro in the Copa del Rey on January 4.

Barcelona took Laliga to court

A judge decided that the league’s financial rules were reasonable and had to be adhered to, hence Barcelona’s attempt to extend Olmo’s registration was failed. According to the court, the purpose of authorizing the expenditure is to prevent a chronic ailment from undermining the team’s ability to compete, not to permit the registration of players who earn more than the salary cap, as Barcelona attempted to do.

Suggestions that Olmo’s Barcelona contract contains a provision that permits him to depart on a free transfer in the event that the La Liga team does not sign him to their roster further complicate matters.

How will Olmo’s possible departure affect Barca?

It is too soon to predict that his time at the Catalan club is over, but it seems like a big possibility that he might just be looking to bid farewell due to big European clubs shoeing interests. Ever since he made his move from Leipzig, the Spaniard has been on fire, scoring five times in the league and also having a total of seven goal contributions in all competitions, making 15 appearances. Besides, he proved to be prolific for the Spanish side during Euros.

He has had a great year playing for his club, first for Leipzig and then for Barcelona, and also for his National side where he was one of the most important players in the squad. If Barcelona manage to renew his contract, it would be a great news for Hansi Flick and his side as he has a lot to offer. However, in case he leaves the club this January, he can easily be a starter for any of the European clubs that are interested in signing the 26-year-old offensive midfielder.

Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City are reportedly targeting Dani Olmo after Barcelona face challenges registering the player. The midfielder’s availability could spark a bidding war among Europe’s top clubs.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
