Premier League: Marcus Rashford included in Man United squad against Newcastle

New Delhi: Marcus Rashford is back for Manchester United as Ruben Amorim has finally decided to keep him in the squad for their Premier League clash against Newcastle tonight. The Englishman has been left out of the Red Devils’ lineup in their last few Premier League games by the Portuguese manager, who did so against their main rivals, Manchester City at the Etihad a few weeks ago. However, the manager then stated that he used his assessment of the forward’s training performance to make the choice to bench him.

The England international had been fired by a United manager before. Last year, he was also dropped by Erik ten Hag before a match against Wolves. However, it was a rather strange move from Ruben Amorim, as if we talk about his Rashford’s recent performances, he has been the most lethal forward for the Portuguese manager. He scored the first ever goal under the “Ruben Amorim era,” in Amorim’s first game in charge as a United manager against Ipswich and he added two more against Everton that sparked hopes for his career revival at United under the new manager.

Ever since the game against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League, Rashford has been excluded from the squad which has hinted certain talks about his possible departure from the club this January. With his inclusion to struggling squad of Manchester United, it will be interesting to see how Amorim would be willing to use him against a rather confident Magpies at Old Trafford.

How are things going for Man United?

Things are looking bad fo the home side as Newcastle have showed no mercy from the very start of the game, carrying a 2-0 lead into the second half. One stat that has to be taken into serious consideration by Ruben Amorim is that so far in this game, all ten of Newcastle’s outfield players have either created or had a chance. Lisandro Martinez and Rasmus Hojlund are the two outfield players for Manchester United who fall into that group.

It was Alexander Isak who scored the opening goal early into the game, when the fullback Lewis Hall put in a half-volleyed cross into the United box and the Swede nodded it down to beat Andre Onana and give the visitors and early lead. Then it was Joelinto who added to United’s miseries when he found the net in the 19th minute to give his side the cushion that they needed. Desperate times for Manchester United who are looking to find the answers to the meteoric problems that have been exposed tonight.

This is the first time in four games that Marcus Rashford has been included in the Manchester United squad, as they trail 2-0 against Newcastle United.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
