Premier League: Manchester United hit new low as Alexander Isak continues dream run

New Delhi: All is not going well at Old Trafford and it’ll be an understatement to say that Manchester United are in a bad run of form. The Red Devils aren’t only finding themselves on the wrong side of the scoreline in recent games but are also conceding goals from every position possible. They haven’t kept a clean sheet in the league since their 4-0 win over Everton on the first day of December, which was also only their second clean sheet since a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa in early October.

Since a last minute win over Manchester City in the Manchester derby, Ruben Amorim’s side have failed to pick up a single point and have lost all the games they’ve played in all competitions. This run doesn’t seem like it’ll be ending in 2024 at least as they find themselves 2-0 down to Newcastle United at home. The Red Devils went behind to an Alexander Isak strike in the fourth minute before Joelinton increased the lead in the 19th minute of the game.

With the two goals that Newcastle scored against them in the first half, Ruben Amorim’s side have now conceded a whopping 18 goals just in the month of December in all competitions. This is the most that the club have conceded in a single month since March 1964. During this time, they’ve conceded 3+ goals in a single game on three different occasions, three each against Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth and four against Tottenham in the EFL Cup.

The Swedish striker has been enjoying a fine run of form off late and once again finds himself on the scoresheet tonight. With his goal against Manchester United, he has now scored against each of the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ this season, establishing himself as the best marksman in the league, on current form. He’s now scored in six consecutive games for Newcastle and has 10 goals in his last 10 league games for the club.

He scored the opening goal tonight with which he reached 50 Premier League goal involvements for the Magpies since his arrival at St. James’ Park.  He has 43 Premier League goals for the Toons and has assisted seven more in just 69 league games, making him the third fastest player to reach that figure. He is only behind former Newcastle strikers Andrew Cole and Les Ferdinand, who reached the same figure in 43 and 58 games respectively.

Manchester United welcomed Newcastle United for the final Premier League game of 2024 and it was a horrible start for the Red Devils as they went behind early on with Alexander Isak continued his dream scoring run.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
