New Delhi: The ongoing tenth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan. The last eight matches of the tournament, which originally were slated for Rawalpindi, Multan, and Lahore, have all been relocated. According to a report, the foreign players have already made their way out to the Middle East.

The development comes after the PSL fixture between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings on Thursday, May 8, was postponed due to the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. It was earlier reported that the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, where the match was scheduled, was damaged by a retaliatory Indian drone strike which came after Pakistan engaged its military against India on May 8, which was said to be in response to the late-night air strikes conducted by India on the terrorist camps in Pakistan during early hours of May 7.

Consequently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the PSL stakeholders made the decision to relocate the tournament after deliberations between them. The board is yet to announce the revised schedule, including dates, venues, and times, but it is expected to be out soon. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that the decision to move the tournament was “to ensure the mental well-being of all players participating.”

“Like in the past, we hope that our stakeholders will rally with us to further the best interests of the tournament, our players, and the fans. We are committed to ensuring that the league continues to thrive,” the chair added.

Overseas players taken out

According to an ESPNcricinfo report, Naqvi held an emergency meeting where the overseas players of the league were present, and they overwhelmingly expressed a desire to relocate the league to the UAE. The report further states that the players are already on their way out of Pakistan to the UAE and that it will take several days for the PCB to work out the venues for the remaining fixtures.

As per the original schedule, there were four games in Rawalpindi, one in Multan, and the final three were to be held in Lahore. An earlier update from the PCB had said that the league would be rescheduled, but it wasn’t confirmed that it would be taken out of the nation, as Karachi was reported to be the most likely option.

The remaining eight fixtures of PSL 2025 have been relocated to UAE and the PCB will be announcing the new dates soon. As per a report, the overseas players are already on their way to the Middle East.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
